Machine Learning Engineer Summer Internship
Program Overview:
The AMP Summer Internship Program offers college students the opportunity to work on meaningful, high-impact projects that directly support our Native Search Marketplace and go-to-market strategy.
Interns collaborate with experienced team members, gain exposure to how a fast-growing ad tech company operates, and develop practical, in-demand skills. The program is designed to help you grow professionally while making a real contribution to the business.
By the end of the summer, you’ll have a deeper understanding of how AMP creates value through innovation in search advertising - and how your work helps drive that impact.
About the Role
As a Machine Learning Engineer Intern at adMarketplace, you will help design and build real production-grade ML systems that directly power our core revenue and advertiser success engines. This is a hands-on, end-to-end role where you will move beyond theoretical models to solve real business problems using data, experimentation, and scalable ML pipelines.
You’ll work closely with Data Engineering to improve predictive models (including pCTR), production pipelines, and internal analytics tools - while learning how machine learning operates inside a live advertising platform.
What You’ll Do
Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) on large-scale user and behavioral signals to uncover insights that improve ML model performance.
Research, prototype, and evaluate classification and regression model architectures to leverage granular and sparse data signals.
Apply an experiment-driven development framework to test new features, signals, and model improvements.
Build and iterate on ML models that outperform existing systems using real production data.
Design and maintain data pipelines and feature workflows in partnership with Data Engineering.
Identify data integrity issues, trace root causes, and collaborate with engineering teams to resolve them.
Translate business goals and product constraints into ML solutions that work in production—not just in notebooks.
Build and ship production-grade ML pipelines, models, and code that integrate with AMP’s systems.
Partner cross-functionally with BI, Engineering, and Product to create dashboards, monitoring tools, and model feedback loops.
Present model performance, tradeoffs, and business impact to leadership using clear, data-driven storytelling.
What You’ll Learn
How ML models move from research → experimentation → production → monitoring
How predictive models drive revenue, supply optimization, and advertiser success
How to bridge the gap between theory and real-world systems at scale
Qualifications
Required
Currently pursuing a Masters in Computer Science or a related field
Strong Python skills
Experience building classification or regression models
Solid understanding of machine learning fundamentals
Nice to Have
Experience writing data pipelines
Exposure to MLOps concepts (model versioning, monitoring, deployment)
Familiarity with Git/GitHub, Bitbucket, or similar version control tools
Experience using GenAI tools (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT) to accelerate development
SQL, Spark, Databricks, or large-scale data processing experience
